I’m a few weeks into my #FitnessForChristmas drive so I thought I better do a quick post to keep you updated on my progress. The first step is often the hardest part of any journey unless you’re learning to ski then stopping can be troublesome. I had the motivation to begin with but it’s the support and the encouragement of the guys in the gym that has helped me the most so far, that and the amount of compliments on my physique that I’ve been getting from ladies on nights out.
The sessions are excellent, I’ll come back to those but my biggest issue has always been my diet. As a social butterfly with a hectic schedule I was always grabbing food on the go most of which was unhealthy so piling on a few pounds was inevitable. The diet tips and menu plans that Jessica designed for me have helped as much as any workout. We all know what we need too cut out but actually managing it is a different story. Bodyworks is all about creating good habits.
I’ve attended a wide range of classes in the gym and enjoyed them all. My schedule varies so it’s great to be able to drop into classes at different times during the day, early morning mid day or evenings.
One of the classes I most enjoy is the Strongman classes with Gerard Masterson. I was dreading the first one as I was picturing a class full of massive weightlifter types pulling trucks around the room. (I hadn’t thought it thought very well to be fair.) The class is tough but manageable for ladies and gents alike, and the sense of accomplishment makes it worth it. There’s a great bunch in the class which helps, everybody encourages each other and it’s lovely to see the improvements in the technique class on class. Also for a stress relief belting a type with a sledgehammer is up there with the best of them.
Its only when you start working out that you realise that everyone is a bloody expert on diet and fitness. Everybody has advice if you have enough time to listen but the most useful tip I picked up was to be organised. Having good food in the fridge is essential. It allows you to consume enough calories from the right sources. A life saver for me has been the www.cleancutmeals.ie great selection, value and delicious.
I’m delighted to say the inches are falling off me in the right places and my technique has improved beyond recognition.
I’m not looking for a quick fix this is about improving my overall lifestyle, a fitter healthier player will score more and everybody will be happy
