THE BODY SHOP - MODERN GENT'S POST PARTY RESCUE KIT
Two weeks ago I was given the Body Shop Modern Gents Post Party Rescue Kit to review. Now I normally like to use products like this for about a month before passing judgement, but such is the hectic nature of my bachelor lifestyle that two weeks in my world is like a month for the average bloke.
First off I can’t discuss this kit without mentioning the packaging, it’s definitely one of the coolest and best presented I’ve ever received. Long after these products are finished I’m certain this box will still be in my room. Just think how impressive this would look on Christmas morning when you give this as a gift to the special man in your life.
Now to the important part, what’s on the inside (well that’s what ugly people are always telling me). In this kit you will receive:
For Men Maca Root Eye Serum.
For Men Maca Root Balancing Face Protector .
Being the inquisitive type I had to check out what the Maca Root was and no it has nothing to do with BT commentator and former Liverpool player Steve McMananaman. Lepidium meyenii (maca) is an herbaceous biennial plant of the crucifer family (me either) native to the Peruvian Andes. Interestingly Maca has been marketed for its supposed benefits for sexual performance, and evidence shows it benefits sexual or erectile dysfunction in older people. The eye serum is bound to make you look hard so, eh? (Boom….you won’t find better in your Christmas Crackers)
Ok onto the serious business, since first using and seeing the benefits of eye serums I was looking forward to trying out this one. The skin around the eye is the thinnest layer on the body and the most vulnerable. Nothing gives away the signs of a tough night on the town like bags under your eyes.
Eye serums can be seen as one of those luxury products only used by metrosexuals and hard to integrate into your daily routine as you generally don’t notice immediate results. I supposed the fact that I’m a blogger and extraordinarily handsome I make a more conscious effort of researching and assessing products, hence I am now very aware of the importance of looking after the eye area properly.
I am very happy to report that this Maca Root eye serum gets the Player Seal of Approval. This is a fast and noticeable tightening around the eye area after application. Obviously it depends on the condition of your own face but dark circles are definitely improved and even the crow’s feet which have only recently began to appear are reduced.
One small pump is all that you need (ah come on...stay classy people) and gently dab the white serum around the eye with a fingertip. The serum is absorbed quickly and doesn’t leave any scent or an oily residue after use.
The second product in the kit is the Balancing Face Protector (above). It hydrates the skin while oil control technology reduces shine in the T-Zone, enriched with Peruvian Maca root. In case you haven’t heard of the T-Zone before here it is;
Makes sense now doesn't it.
Your forehead, nose and chin are oilier than other parts of the face and require extra care and attention.
I have to be honest I wasn't a fan of the feel of the cream as it was applied the first few times, personally it felt rather dry during application, despite the very light texture and consistency. But like a new foreign signing making his debut for your team you need to allow time to settle in and adjust to new surrounding before making judgement. After a few days of application I was much happier with the feel and my skin felt moisturised as you’d expect but so soft too. After continued use I was really impressed it’s a powerful cream and has a nice aroma, the best way I can describe it is that it smells clean. Again it absorbs immediately and leaves no shine.
Ladies trust me this would be a cracking gift for himself especially if you are trying to make him more conscious about looking after his skin.
At only €27 in your local BodyShop its great value too; thebodyshop
