Ask any of my former flames I’m always up for trying something new so when i was asked to try an electric car for a weekend I jumped at the chance. Bradley Motors Renault were kind enough to give me the 100% Electric Renault Zoe to checkout. I had never been in an electric car before never mind driven one so I was intrigued. it was like going on a blind date with a girl you knew to see, but didn't fancy, you weren’t confident it’d work out but because your friends set it up you said you’d give it a go.
I rocked up to Bradley Motors on the Tuam Road to the usual very friendly welcome, the receptionist definitely had a thing for me, naturally and couldn't have been more helpful, changing over insurance and the boring stuff. Once that was out of the way i was introduced to the delightful Zoe my date for the weekend. She was fully charged which was a range of 108km. The first thing that hits you in the noise or lack of, every passenger i had for the weekend commented on it.
It was a standard weekend for me no long journeys, so basically zipping around town which this car is perfect for. Saturday evening i decided to give her some juice. When you buy the car you get a home charging point so that you don't have to sit in a car park waiting to charge. Its an easy process just plug it in and wait. It took about 40min to charge 50% which isn't too bad, it gave me time to reply to most of my tinder matches from that week.
On Sunday I popped along the the Renault sponsored Keane On Style fashion Roadshow with the gorgeous Lorraine Keane a brand ambassador for Renault Ireland herself. The lovely staff at the Raddison permitted me to leave Zoe at the main entrance so i could pop out and check on her every now and again, The event was brilliant, with loads of great stands talks and the models we’re very friendly too. I gave my good pal Laura Fox a lift to it and she was really impressed with how spacious and comfortable Zoe was for such a compact car. To be fair Laura knows as much about cars as cats do about driving but hey.
On Monday morning I couldn't bring myself to part with my new bae so i requested an extension on the loan while i contemplated a longer relationship. Realistically with the amount of long distance driving I do it wouldn't be practical. I see this car as perfect for the environmentally conscious city dwellers. If you have the charger at home it solves the biggest issue for me.
Zoe is very cute, has a great body, a real goer, beautiful on the inside and so quiet its a dream, essentially she’d be the perfect girlfriend and the ideal city car.
