As you are all well aware I’m a man about town and I like to keep on top of the best venues Galway has to offer, especially when it comes to dates. Nothing worse that getting a hot chick to agree to spend her night with you and the restaurant you’ve decided on is more like a crèche or you had to sell the car to pay for both of you.
I brought a recent date to the recently renovated Gaslight Brasserie – in the Hotel Meyrick Galway. It’s ideal location in the centre of the city, with terrific views of Eyre Square from this beautiful venue. I have attended a number of events here recently and was eager to bring a date. A nice restaurant like this was deserving of a sophisticated lady, with the majority of my Tinder dates Supermacs would be ok for but I had but my companion for the evening wasn’t your average hump and dump type so I decided to treat her.
Check out the evening menu for yourself on the hotels website www.hotelmeyrick.ie we ordered the Oysters to share for a starter, great way to begin a date, trust me. For main course I went for the Piri Piri & Lemon Pepper Crumbed Chicken which was both beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. She went for the Freshly Baked Atlantic Hake which she absolutely loved. She was obviously having the time of her life given the company but she seemed to genuinely enjoy the meal too.
We both went for the Warm Choclate Pudding served with vanilla ice cream but the other options looked just as good when the arrived at the table next to us later in the evening.
The Gaslight Brassiere is an ideal venue for parties too, it’s a cool venue for work parties or birthdays I expect to attend a fair few 30th birthdays and the likes there in the coming years, especially with the cocktail menu.
I am looking forward to attending the monthly Supper Club which has a different theme each time, next Supper Club will be “ Taste of the Bay” and will be on Friday September 19th from 7pm. I love when venues put effort into impressing guests and that was an overarching feeling I got from the moment I walked in the door of the Meyrick.
The menu created will be on a seafood and fish theme – to tie in with the Galway International Oyster Festival that weekend€38.00 per person for a 4 course meal
Overall this is a really nice chilled out venue, the menu is tasty, good value and appeals to all, the service was friendly I’ll definitely be back, probably not with the same girl but she has also earned a thumbs up after the nights activities in case you were wondering
